From the USA it takes about 4 days to get to the south pole.  We have to first get to Christchurch in New Zealand where we collect all our warm weather clothing.  Then we take a US Air Force plane to McMurdo on the Coast of Antarctica.  After spending a night by the sea we fly to the South Pole which takes around 3 hours. 

Oh and we don't get any tornadoes down here but we do sometime have very bitter winds during the winter.
