Competing Redshift Surveys I


Two competing redshift survey projects currently underway:
SDSS includes a redshift survey as well (US)
2 Degree Field Survey (UK, Australia)

Different methods of target selection:
SDSS selects from their own enormous multicolor, all electronic sky mapping program.
2dF from scanned photographic plates (APM)

Both made public data releases in June 2001:
SDSS 55,000 redshifts
2dF 100,000 redshifts
