Conclusions


We can measure the distances to nearby stars in our own galaxy by using the motion of the Earth around the Sun - called Parallax.
Cepheid variable stars provide a "Standard Candle" which allow us to measure distances out to nearer galaxies.
Supernova allow us to get much further out...

Current evidence indicates that the expansion of the Universe is accelerating in the present epoch...
And also that the expansion decelerated in the past.
